Fun in the Sun

Fun in the Sun is a cheerful, garden-inspired collection filled with whimsical characters, playful lettering, and plenty of Sandra Malone’s signature folk-art charm. Originally published in 2016 as a decorative painting book, this delightful collection is now available again as a digital eBook, bringing a whole garden of creative possibilities back for painters to enjoy.

The fun begins with a collection of rustic wooden garden posts, each decorated with sweet garden angels, smiling carrots, buzzing bees, watermelon hearts, colorful flowers, and charming little messages about love, sunshine, and gardening. Soft washes of blue and green mingle with warm oranges, rosy reds, and creamy neutrals, while loose spattering, distressed finishes, playful linework, and unexpected embellishments give the designs their wonderfully relaxed, handmade feel.

But the creativity doesn't stop with the garden posts! Sandra carries these designs onto wooden tags, plant markers, bookmarks, canvas pouches, children's overalls, decorative garden bags, and whimsical plant sticks. Many of the patterns can be enlarged, reduced, mixed, and matched, making it easy to adapt the designs to surfaces you already have or dream up something entirely new.

Perfect for painters who love whimsical gardens, cheerful characters, primitive folk-art details, and projects with a little personality, Fun in the Sun is a wonderfully versatile collection that celebrates the simple joy of painting and creating.
