Making Moonshine
Making Moonshine is a delightfully whimsical Halloween design filled with bubbling magic and a little mischievous fun. A wide-eyed black crow arrives with a bundle of grasses and a cheerful green worm dangling from its beak, while tiny bugs and curious ants find themselves caught up in the excitement around a bubbling black cauldron. Set against a dreamy blue and turquoise background, the glowing bubbles seem to float right off the surface.
Soft dry brushing, layered floating, playful spattering, and delicate highlights create a wonderful sense of movement and transparency. The bubbles are especially fun to paint, using ordinary bottle caps and lids to stamp circles before adding soft shading and luminous highlights. The contrast of deep black, cool blues, and touches of citron green gives the design a magical nighttime glow.
Originally painted on a simple brown paper gift bag, Making Moonshine can easily be adapted to an apron, wooden plaque, Halloween sign, or almost any surface you choose. This pattern is perfect for painters who enjoy whimsical Halloween characters, unusual painting techniques, and designs that are just a little bit spooky without losing their playful charm.
